B.A. Programme at Daulat Ram College (University of Delhi)

The B.A. Programme is a flexible, interdisciplinary undergraduate degree. Unlike the B.A. (Hons.), which focuses on a single subject, the B.A. Programme allows students to study two main disciplines, often in combination with skill-based and interdisciplinary courses.

Course Structure:

• Duration: 3 years (6 semesters)

• Type: Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under the National Education Policy (NEP) framework

• Mode: Full-time, undergraduate

Subject Combinations (examples of common pairs):

Students can choose two core subjects from a list offered by the college. Combinations may vary slightly each year based on availability and seat allotment. Some typical combinations include:

• Political Science + History

• Economics + Mathematics

• Psychology + Philosophy

• English + Hindi

• History + Sanskrit

• Political Science + Sociology (if offered)

Each subject will be taught with equal weight (usually).

Components of the Programme:

1. Core Discipline Courses
   Two main disciplines chosen at the time of admission. You study papers from both throughout the 3 years.

2. AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses)

   • Environmental Studies

   • English or Hindi Communication

3. SEC (Skill Enhancement Courses)
   Practical, skill-based papers like creative writing, computer applications, data analysis, public speaking, etc.

4. Generic Electives / MIL (Modern Indian Language)
   Options like Sanskrit, Hindi, or regional language papers, or interdisciplinary electives.

5. Value-Added or Vocational Components (Under NEP)
   New modules may include internships, community engagement, or short-term skill-based certifications.
